3 Laws of the Harvest by Kevin Crawford

"Be not deceived: God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap " Galatians. 6:7.

This verse accurately stresses a law of nature that is brushed over in our rushed lives. It is easy to miss the "truth", as it is to miss its hidden warnings about the conduct of our lives. With a closer, more careful look, we observe that this verse can be applied and broken down into three universal laws of life.

LAW NUMBER ONE:
WE REAP WHAT WE SOW: This first law is of a "qualitative "nature. What you put into life is exactly what you get out of it. You are what you are now, and have what you have now basically from the influence of those in authority over you. But as you make your own decisions, you will be living with the results of those decisions. Why? Because every action that is made is like a seed planted into the fertile soil of life that grows into a crop, and in short, you reap what you've sown. Conversely then, if you sow your "wild oats" now, don't expect oats later!

LAW NUMBER TWO:
WE REAP MORE THAN WE SOW: This is a "quantitative " law in nature wherein we know that if you plant wheat, you'll get wheat... with significant increase. There are many people today who are in much more trouble than they ever thought they could be. By failing to realize the implications of this second great law, many have gotten more than they bargained for. Those who cheat now will continue to cheat, because it is sown into your character. Only later will those consequences become greater! Many will find one day they have sown so much evil for so long, that the coming harvest of God's wrath will be nothing sort of a "bumper crop".

LAW NUMBER THREE:
WE ALWAYS REAP LATER THAN WE SOW: This seems to be not only the last part to the laws of the harvest, but also the most difficult for the young to hear and believe. You never sow today and reap the harvest tomorrow. The "cumulative" nature of this law is that it always takes time to get a crop fully matured and fully in. Even in life you will find that it takes time for the consequences of your actins to "catch up" with you. Many feel they have gotten away "scott free", only to find their harvest waiting later and bitter. Some of the best years of my life are right now, because of what happened in the past, namely, trusting Christ as my own Lord and personal Saviour. Because I sowed Christ, I have reaped Christ! I am reaping now the harvest of those years, and you will reap later the harvest of these years. Why? Because you always reap later than you sow.

These simple farming truths apply to good living, as well as bad. The small seeds of godliness and commitment which you plant today will come back to you "pressed down… and running over" Luke 6:38.

So, what will you sow today? A bad habit … a sinful attitude… lopsided priorities … or a life fully committed to Christ and righteous living? Remember, your harvest will be determined by your planting…"Be not deceived!"

"For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting." Galatians 6:8.
