Whatever we have over-loved
(John Flavel)
Whatever we have over-loved, idolized, and leaned upon — God has from time to time broken it, and made us to see the vanityof it. We find that the readiest course to be rid of our comforts — is to set our hearts inordinately upon them!
"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than Me, is not worthy of Me;
anyone who loves his son or daughter more than Me, is not worthy of Me;
and anyone who does not take his cross and follow Me, is not worthy of Me!"
Matthew 10:37-38
