When He withdraws His restraining hand!

(from Arthur Pink's, "The Life of Elijah")  The strongest Christians are as weak as water, when God leaves them to themselves, and withholds His support. Samson was as powerless as any other man as soon as the Spirit of the Lord departed from him. It matters not what growth in grace has been made, how well experienced we may be in the spiritual life, or how eminent the position we have occupied in the Lord's service. When He withdraws His restraining hand  the madness which in in our hearts by nature at once asserts itself, gains the upper hand, and leads us into a course of folly! link
